Regional Meeting on Design Support - Budapest

21-22 October 2004

2 August 2004

The Hungarian Design Council plans to organise a regional meeting for Central and Eastern European countries on 21 and 22 October 2004, as part of the Design Week’s series of events on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Hungarian Design Award.
The Hungarian Design Council is a member of ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) and we have asked the ICSID Board for endorsement.
In May 2004, several countries of the Central Eastern-European region became members of the European Union. This fact brings new opportunities, liabilities and challenges for the Design Centres and Design Councils of each “new-comer” country and for the entire Design professional world.
The aim of the proposed regional meeting is to initiate an informal, strong cooperation among the regional organisations.
We would like to invite the representatives of organisations who play a significant role in design in the following countries: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia.
In addition to keynote speeches we wish to hold roundtable discussions to find common interests. The official language of the meeting will be English.
