Design Information and Service Co. (Non-profit Organisation)
Jointly founded by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in 2004, on the professional basis of the three-decades-old Budapest Design Centre, the new Design Terminal is commissioned to promote national design culture and to facilitate the commercial utilization of design.

Its main tasks are:
- to provide information, consultancy services, design related problem solving
- to set up Design Directory (an up-to-date database on designers and design consultancies, as well as a library and a web portal),
- to brief and commission design professionals on behalf of clients, to initiate and contribute to design projects,
- to contribute to vocational training, educational projects, exhibitions, workshops, conferences.

Advisory Office for Fine Arts

A professional institute of the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage, founded in 1963.

- maintaining a list of experts working in the fields of applied arts and design,
- it takes part in the announcement, professional and financial realization and documentation of the scholarship system of the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage.

Association of Hungarian Fine and Industrial Artists

The Association was established in 1949.

Mission :
- to organize cooperation between industrial and fine artists, designers, restorers, art historians and art critics, to represent the professional interest of its members,
- support the creative process and strengthen the social role of artists. Within the Association artists form specialized institutional units in their fields,
Each profession within the Association forms an independent organisational unit, e.g. the industrial art and design division is further divided into interior design, industrial design, ceramics, goldsmith, graphic design, textile and glass design departments.

The Department of Industrial Design is a member of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID).

Society of Hungarian Graphic Designers and Typographers

The Society was established in 2006 with the aim to support graphic designers and to help elevate the prestige of the profession. The Society organizes events, announces competitions and publishes books on design and typography.

Association of Hungarian Graphic Studios

The Association was established in 1998 with the aim of improving the professional standing of Hungarian graphics studios, as well as organizing and strengthening collaboration between studios, representing and defending the interests of its members, developing professional norms and assisting in the training of Hungarian graphic artists. Outstanding works receive the annual Golden Tack Awards and are put on display.

Association of Hungarian Artists

This is Hungary's national organization for professional creative artists in the fields of fine art, industrial art, photography, literature and music. The mission of this nearly seven-thousand-strong association is primarily to act in the interest of its members, secure copyright protection for their work and provide support for them.

Hungarian Chamber of Architects

The Hungarian Chamber of Architects is a corporate body with a nationwide authority established by Act LVIII of 1996. Its members are the regional chambers of architects.

It's underlying function is to determine the vocational and ethical rules for architects in Hungary, to supervise and control the legality of architectural activities, to re p resent the fiscal and moral interests of Hungarian architects, to coordinate the activities of the Regional Architecture Chambers.

The Chamber's public duties include taking decisions on making entries to, deleting entries from and barring entry to the Register of Architects. Its professional branches: Interior Architecture, Landscape- and Garden Architecture, Territorial Planning and Town Planning, Architectural Heritage.

The Studio of Young Artists and Designers

The Studio was established in 1982 and has been operating as an independent association since 1990.

The association's mission is to provide professional support for young industrial artists and designers just beginning their careers. This is done by providing regular information, building relations, announcing grants and competitions and organizing domestic and foreign exhibitions.

The membership comprises 490 members and has an age limit of 35 years.

National Association of Interior Decorators

The Association was established in 1995 as a professional social organization with the aim of aiding the creative output and further training of those working in the field, as well as creating and maintaining a continuous working relationship between designers, manufacturers and distributors. LOSZ maintains an info database for this purpose as well as organizing exhibitions, professional conventions, study trips in Hungary and abroad, company presentation and collaborating in sponsoring scholarships and competitions.

LOSZ membership is open to private individuals (interior designers and interior decorators) and legal entities (manufacturers, distributors and design companies).

Educational Institutes

Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest

Established more than 125 years ago, this prestigious university trains professionals in five main areas offering the following specialisations:

- Architecture: architecture, interior design, furniture design
- Design: industrial design, packaging design, metalwork design, jewellery
- Silicate design: ceramics, porcelain, glass
- Textile Techniques and Design: material design, clothes design
- Visual Communications: still images (graphics, photos), motion images (video, animation)

 

In addition to completing the chosen course of studies, students have the opportunity to participate in two further education programs, Teacher Training in Visual and Environment Culture Studies and Design Management Training. Courses at the University take five years (ten semesters): upon completion graduates receive a Master of Arts degree. For a degree in Education or a certificate in Design Management a further eight-semester program is necessary, done in tandem with the design studies along with two further semesters.

Upon obtaining an MA graduates may go on to study for their post-graduate master craftsmanship by completing one of two sub-programs (Art and Crafts or Design) entitling them to a Doctor of Liberal Arts (DLA) degree.

Foreign students are welcome, and must pay their own tuition fees.

The University of West Hungary

In the Institute of Applied Arts , established at the Faculty of Wood Sciences, training of interior designers and designers has been offered since 1994. At the end of a 5-year full-time training students can become either certified architect-designers or certified designers.

The following specializations can be opted for at each of the Departments:
- Department of Architecture: - interior design
- Department of Design: - wood and furniture industry, or silicate art, or paper and packaging industry. The first three years of the training of silicate art designer students take place in Sopron , the 4th and 5th years at the Institute's affiliated Department of Silicate Art in the International Ceramic Studio of Kecskemét.

The Institute has been a member of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) since 1995.

Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts

In addition to traditional departments such as Painting, Sculpture and Drawing, as well as faculties for Teacher Trainers and Restorers, the University offers certificate-orientated courses at its independent Departments of Graphic Design, Intermedia and Visual Design.

Budapest University of Technology and Economics

The University has a long tradition of training professionals in technical fields and it remains the most significant such university in the country, offering five - year degree programs at the Faculty of Architecture.
In addition to this, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been offering an independent program, in Product Design Engineering over a five-year study period, since 1996.

In the autumn of 2005, after the introduction of the two-tier education system, a seven-semester course forBachelor 's degree was launched, which can be continued at Master's level starting from 2008 at the Industrial Product Design, Form and Environment Engineering and the Product Management courses.

University of Pécs

The Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering is part of the largest Hungarian university, the University of Pécs. The Faculty offers a course in architecture for Master's degree. . At the end of the course (ten semesters) students receive an MA.
From the autumn of 2006 on, after transition to the two-tier education system, a course for Bachelor's degree (eight semesters)will be launched for architects,  which can be continued at Master's level (four semesters) and concluded with an MA diploma.
For those holding a Bachelor's degree, the Master's degree course can be resumed either as a full-time course (four semesters) or as a distance course (six semesters). The faculty also offers post-graduate courses for a DLA (Doctor of Liberal Arts) degree.
