The application process has opened for the László Moholy-Nagy Design Grant 2021
The application period for the László Moholy-Nagy Design Grant has started. Projects can be submitted by young designers and design theory researchers until 1 April 2021. The six-month grant with a sum of 900 thousand forints is open for applicants below 35 years of age holding a university degree (BA, BSc, MA, MSc) in art, design and/or design theory and working in Hungary.

In the last more than thirty years the László Moholy-Nagy Grant has enabled over two hundred young designers and design theoreticians to further their professional careers and realise their ambitions. The grant programme, which has been supplemented with increasing industrial, manufacturing participation and attracted the attention of economic decision-makers, has provided the opportunity for young design professionals to implement design- and research projects on their own or in partnership with a manufacturer. During the six-month period the grantees can deepen their knowledge in their research fields and, enjoying high quality professional support, can develop their products and build a marketable business model.
In addition to their own design or research projects, applicants can also submit projects in three announced themes. The Herend Porcelain Manufactory Plc. welcomes form- and decoration designs linked to the concept of FUTURE expressed in porcelain.
The grant programme’s professional partner, MAFORM, has announced two themes. Applicants are invited to design objects giving a positive response to the quick increase of home office due to the pandemic. They can also research the possible everyday uses of blockchain technology as well as its potential effects on our objects and, based on their findings, design a tool / service that provides an answer to an existing problem by applying blockchain technology.
Projects can be submitted to the Office of the Hungarian Design Council electronically by midnight on 1 April 2021.
