Search of patent and utility model documents is an activity that requires special knowledge and experience, therefore it is recommended to visit the customer service of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office personally where the search can be conducted based on electronic and traditional data carriers with the help and guidance of our specialists.

On the Internet numerous databases are available, which usually accelerate orientation. Beyond use of keywords, the International Patent Classification is the fundamental tool of searching patent documents by subjects. If the search does not call forth adequate documents in the databases, it does not mean necessarily that such documents do not exist.
1. Search of patents and designs valid in Hungary
PIPACS Hungarian industrial property database is the basic tool of searching patents and designs valid in Hungary, and applications being in process.

2. Search of foreign patent and design documents
Use of esp@cenet database is the most useful tool for searching foreign patent documents on the Internet. This database contains the documents published by the European Patent Office and also 30 millions documents of more than 50 countries.
